Build Background Knowledge

Build background knowledge for this unit by explaining to students what a "will" is. A will is a legal document stating a person’s wishes for his or her property after he or she has died. You can draw conclusions about a person’s life from reading their will—who they trusted, what they valued, and what kind of life they lived. A "will" plays a critical role in The Westing Game. It will help the reader and the players figure out who Sam Westing was, and what kind of life he lived.
