I teach 3rd grade, but I have several students at first grade level. These passages are excellent for teaching the skill at their own level. Thank you!

I used this with an adult ESOL class and they really liked it!

Great

My Grandson son loves the passage reading. We are looking forward to great advancements with comprehension and
reading more fluently.

Thank you so much for these passages my grandson loves to read.

I love all of these passages!!!!!

This passage was perfect for my students they are good at reading but this helped the students identify with looking for the details and paying attention to the details.

Most children can connect to the topic of bumper cars, so I think this was a great choice. Some first graders would be able to read this passage independently, but not all. Since the ultimate goal of reading is comprehension, I would want to model those behaviors that good readers use when they read. At the onset of using ReadWorks first grade reading passages, I would read a passage aloud, have children turn and talk, and then read the questions and choices aloud. Students would choose the answers independently at that point...one at a time. I would continue with scaffolding the next passage, use the third passage during guided reading, and then release total responsibility to the child. I would even use the kindergarten passages for some of them at this point. I know that ReadWorks supports the method of scaffolding, as I have used other passages with your suggestions many times in the past. Thank you for all you do for to provide great quality examples for teachers.
