Our Team

Executive Director ­– David Ciulla

David Ciulla joined ReadWorks with broad-based experience in business, education, and entrepreneurship. David co-founded Sports Basement, a successful San Francisco-based retail company, was a consultant advising U.S. and international business clients, and was an analyst with Chemical Bank in New York. As an educator, David taught English Language Arts and Math and coached athletics for five years at the middle school level. David has also led business and development projects in the Navajo Nation and the Amazon region of Brazil. David received his M.A. in International Relations from The Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and his B.A. from Stanford University.

Associate Executive Director – Christina Oliver

Christina joined ReadWorks bringing a decade of experience working in non-profit education reform in New York City. As VP of Educational Programs at Classroom, Inc. Christina designed and managed teacher professional development, and secured strategic partnerships to expand the impact of Classroom, Inc. with individual schools, non-profits and urban districts. She gained her in-depth understanding of school organization and programs from her experience as Director of Educational Initiatives at the Urban Assembly, a NYC non-profit manager of small public schools. Prior to that, Ms. Oliver taught at J.H.S. 56 in Manhattan and at Bronx Preparatory Charter School. She graduated from the University at Buffalo with a B.A. in History and Secondary Education. She holds a master's degree in Education Policy and Public Management from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.

Consulting Senior Director of Online Learning – Nuri Adler

Nuri joined ReadWorks bringing experience leading the development of highly effective online coursework and working in diverse functional areas within startup and established organizations. As Director of Online Learning at UKA Teacher U (now Relay Graduate School of Education), Nuri managed the development of online content as its presence grew from a single course in 2008 to 40% of the celebrated, innovative Master’s degree program two years later. In the process, he led research projects into online learning effectiveness; worked closely with curriculum designers and technology team members to develop and implement the theories of learning, templates, and tools required to support course development; oversaw the media team responsible for creating highly engaging content; and secured funding to support this work. Prior to UKA Teacher U, Nuri worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company. He holds an A.B. with honors in Economics from Harvard University.

Consulting Director of Technology & Innovation – David Rea

Mr. Rea has been a technical advisor from the inception of ReadWorks, and now contributes to strategic planning as well. Mr. Rea studied educational technology at Harvard University, where he holds a Masters Degree in Education, and at the MIT Media Lab. He has broad experience combining technology and education initiatives, including technical direction of the NSF-funded Physics 2000 Project and two years teaching computer science at Phillips Exeter Academy. More recently he served as the Director of Technology Assessment at private equity firm General Atlantic, providing strategic and tactical guidance on technology issues, and lately he has been working with a variety of internet startups.

Director of Technology – Jeffrey Fleishhacker

As Director of Technology, Jeff coordinates both the internal and external technology functions of the organization, as well as overseeing all aspects of evaluation. Originally from San Francisco, he received a B.A. with honors from Columbia College in 1999, and currently lives with his wife and daughter in Brooklyn.

Director of Development & Communications – Stephanie Haven

Stephanie joined ReadWorks bringing an array of development and communications experience from her work in the private and nonprofit sectors.  Prior to joining ReadWorks, Stephanie worked for a boutique private equity firm as Associate Director of Corporate Communications.  Stephanie received her master’s degree at the London School of Economics, and her BSFS with honors from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.

Senior Project Manager – Skivjana Neza

Skivjana joined ReadWorks in 2012, bringing a variety of media, journalism, and marketing experience. She most recently worked in production for Rock Center with Brian Williams/Dateline NBC, and The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell on MSNBC. Skivjana received a B.A. in Politics with honors from New York University.

Office Manager –Sonya Leon

As Office Manager, Sonya provides support throughout the organization. Continuing her long career in the not-for-profit sector, Sonya came to ReadWorks after 13 years working at Special Olympics. Born and raised in Uptown Manhattan, Sonya remains involved in the community as a volunteer for local events and charity walks.
