Executive Director – David Ciulla
David Ciulla joined ReadWorks with broad-based experience in business, education, and entrepreneurship. David co-founded Sports Basement, a successful San Francisco-based retail company, was a consultant advising U.S. and international business clients, and was an analyst with Chemical Bank in New York. As an educator, for five years David taught English Language Arts and Math, and coached athletics. David has also led business and development projects in the Navajo Nation and the Amazon region of Brazil. David, who is from North Haven, CT, received his M.A. in International Relations from The Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and his B.A. from Stanford University.
Advisor/CTO – Ruben Kleiman
Ruben comes to ReadWorks with over 25 years of experience in technology. Most recently the founder/CEO of Design 4 Literature, Ruben has worked at a high level for Netflix, SGI, and Apple, among other companies. The holder of multiple patents and degrees from Harvard and the New College of Florida, Ruben is based in the SF Bay Area. Click here for his full bio.
Director of Teacher Support & Communications – Kathy Bloomfield
Kathy has been an informal advisor to the ReadWorks team in the areas of Marketing and Communication and recently joined our team to continue those efforts. Prior to ReadWorks, Kathy has worked in senior leadership roles in direct marketing and marketing services for Digitas, Warner Music, Time Inc., Book of the Month Club and Time Life Books. She was also a founding partner in a marketing consulting business with clients such as Sony Music, AOL, Doubleday and Educate Inc. Kathy received a BA in English from Gettysburg College and student taught in the 2nd grade.
Director of Technology – Jeffrey Fleishhacker
As Director of Technology, Jeff coordinates both the internal and external technology functions of the organization, as well as overseeing all aspects of evaluation. Originally from San Francisco, he received a B.A. with honors from Columbia College in 1999, and currently lives with his wife and daughter in Brooklyn.
Director of Development and Teacher Support – Stephanie Haven
Stephanie joined ReadWorks bringing an array of development and communications experience from her work in the private and nonprofit sectors. Prior to joining ReadWorks, Stephanie worked for a boutique private equity firm as Associate Director of Corporate Communications. Stephanie received her master’s degree at the London School of Economics, and her BSFS with honors from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.
Senior Project Manager – Skivjana Neza
Skivjana joined ReadWorks in 2012, bringing a variety of media, journalism, and marketing experience. She most recently worked in production for Rock Center with Brian Williams/Dateline NBC, and The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell on MSNBC. Skivjana received a B.A. in Politics with high honors from New York University.
Manager of Teacher Support and Social Media – Katy Laird
Katy joined ReadWorks in 2013 with a background in social media and digital marketing. She comes most recently from the creative team at Meredith Digital where she wrote and created ad campaigns for clients like Kraft, P&G & Unilever. Before entering the world of marketing and advertising, Katy taught ESL in Hanoi, Vietnam. She graduated with a B.A. in History and Studio Art from Middlebury College.
Lead Writer – Manjula Raman
Manjula joined the ReadWorks team in 2014, bringing experience in publishing, editing, and writing. A graduate of the Columbia Publishing Course, she comes most recently from the editorial department at the academic publisher Routledge. Manjula graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in cognitive science from Brown University, where she served as a Rose Writing Fellow for three years.
Writer & Editor – Abby Mansfield
Abby joined the ReadWorks team in 2013 with a background in writing, publishing, and education. Abby previously worked at Random House in the Speakers Bureau and Publicity departments. She graduated from Oberlin College in 2012 with a B.A. in Comparative Literature and German. While at Oberlin, Abby tutored fellow undergraduates in German and taught classes as part of the college’s Experimental College program.
Writer & Editor – Dan Stahl
As a writer and editor, Dan leverages his broad editorial and educational experience. As a tutor and teacher, Dan has instructed students from kindergarten to college in language arts. As a reporter, critic, and copy editor, he has worked for leading news and arts publications. Dan graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Classics from Columbia University and an M.A. in Classical Studies from the University of Missouri.
Educator & District Engagement – Margo Doolittle
Margo has worked in the education and nonprofit sectors for over 15 years. She has worked at various nonprofits throughout New York City, including Everybody Wins! and MS Hope for a Cure. She also served as the Director of Development and Marketing for the Bronx Preparatory Charter School. Prior to her time at Bronx Prep, Margo taught in two schools in New York City. She graduated Cum Laude from Northwestern University with a B.S. in Communication Studies. Margo holds a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management and Education Policy from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.
Content Team – Justin Moy
Whether it is fact-checking or editing for ReadWorks, Justin channels his classroom teaching experience. He has taught English to international students at Kaplan International. He first entered the educational field by teaching English in Japan as a participant of the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program. Justin graduated from University of Miami with a B.A. in Theatre Arts, and he continues to act on stage and in front of the camera.
