How to Teach the Grade 5-6 Lessons

Follow These 3 Easy Steps to Prepare Your Grade 5-6 Lessons

  1. Identify your students’ reading levels.

  2. Choose a novel study unit that closely aligns to the reading levels of your students. Students should be able to read it independently or with some guidance.

  3. Plan how to fit the components of the unit into your schedule:

  • Lessons plans are always taught in class, either to a small group or to the entire class.

  • Student packets may be worked on independently in class or for homework. Sometimes students may need more guidance from you or their peers in a group setting.

  • The text itself may be read independently at home or in class. Some students may require guidance.
